Switzerland: Two and a half weeks, day ten

View from the museum: obscured by a large cock…

Julie, her dad, the Twins and I took the train to Brienz to catch the bus to the Ballenberg Open Air Museum. The huge site contains a good hundred or more original buildings from all over Switzerland move brick by brick or plank by plank to this heritage site for posterity.

Visitors can wander around the structures which are grouped by period and function, many of which are still in use to house farm animals while others are used for demonstrations of traditional crafts and activities.

It’s a good couple of hours walk and several miles through some really beautiful woods to get round the place, even missing some of the more remote sections out as we did.
