Mission Report
I hadn’t really thought about it during yesterdays short outing, but it occurred to me that this would be my first time trooping open-faced. Not being entirely sure how Ghostbusters are supposed to interact with the public, Stuart and I kicked off proceedings by Ecto-metering our way up and down the queuing guests, checking to ensure the majority of them were indeed solid and not free floating vapours.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting a lot of recognition from the younger attendees, but it seems we somewhat lucked out in the timing of this event with an apparent recent repeat broadcast of both films. In fact we had a constant returning visitor in a pumpkin clad 3-year old, who’s eyes were like saucers each time he ran into us because he was such a fan even at his age he could recite the Ray Parker Junior theme tune.

Venturing further up the science centre we had the opportunity to scan (and taste) the slime they were producing in the science lab to determine it’s relative evilness, in the company of Jon Pertwee. I ask you, what other hobby do you get to make statements like that about?

As the evening wore on and in an apparent unprecedented media crossover between Scooby Doo and Ghostbusters it became a running joke when informed by various childs that a ghost had been sighted in one direction to try to get them to check it out themselves as I had urgent business in the other. Assuming they didn’t then get eaten or something, we would arrange to meet up later so they could let me know how they’d got on with that. Surprisingly towards the end of the night as we posed for pictures as people departed I did get the occasional report back on the outcome of the delegated spectral investigations…

Capping off the night, on the way back to the changing room I got handed a bag of Halloween goodies by one of the helpers as I passed their table prompting me to immediately run round behind it and them and pretend it was my first time passing the hand-out area. Didn’t work though.

Mission Report
I dunno… You wait five months for an appropriate event to debut a Ghostbuster costume and then two come along at once. While signed up for tomorrow nights GSC Halloween Event for a while now, I was happy to kit up to go over to our Glorious Squad Leaders employers office to do a quick tour around to raise some extra cash for the charity fund.

Although it was just the two of us in costume (well two and a half I suppose) and took less than an hour it was still a pleasure to help out and being Halloween there was no need to de-kit for a return to my own work or the later Halloween festivities with the Kilwinning Archers…
